Victor Ernesto "Vic" Lira, 73
- Died: February 26,2010, in Chino Valley
- Vic was born September 3, 1936 in Durango, Co. and went to be with our Lord on February 26, 2010. He lived in Prescott, AZ from 1936 until his father died in 1943. In 1945 his mother, Rose, remarried and their family moved to Oregon.
He spent his grade school years growing up hunting, fishing and playing sports in Oregon. In 1953 Vic moved back to Prescott and lived with his Aunt Lena Ravetto while going to Prescott High School in his junior and senior years.
On October 9, 1954 he married the love of his life and soul mate Norma Tucker. They were married for 56 years and blessed with two sons Jeff and Monty.
Vic went to work for the Prescott Fire Dept. in 1957. He was the 4th paid fireman hired, as Prescott was mostly a volunteer department then. He worked his way up to being a captain. He played slow pitch for many years and enjoyed going to his wife and son's baseball games, rodeo's and ropings. In 1970 he joined the Flagstaff Fire Dept. where he later retired.
Vic was a man that deeply enjoyed his family and friends. His home with Norma was always open to anyone. Vic always had a heart for helping people, and a strong desire to serve our Lord Jesus. His smile said it all! There was a kindness in him and yet a quality and strength that enabled people to trust him. He was like a father figure to so many.
Since retirement and living in Chino Valley he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, carpentry and doing projects that helped others and also enabled him to spend time with people he loved.
He is survived by his wife Norma, son's Jeff and Monty and his wife, Terri, granddaughters Morgan and Jasey, grandson Ryan and great-grandsons Casey and Adrial. Also his sister Molly Slagle of Prescott Valley, and brother Angelo Lira of Prescott, his brothers-in-law Bill Summerow, of Scio, OR, Paul Tucker, of Kingman, AZ, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a Good Man.
